ICE CREAM SOCIAL

Life has been pretty eventful over the last of weeks with a lot of upcoming changes happening, all wonderful and terrifying. One of the results of the changes is me reassessing my wardrobe size, I am feeling ill typing this because I never cull my clothing. I have a huge wardrobe and actually wear about 10% of it, I feel pretty comfortable writing this here because I know that a lot of you reading are in the exact same boat.

I will be honest, I am not going to clear out a whole heap of it but I want to make a more active effort to wear more of it and then make decisions on what is really just taking up space. I have also put myself on a spending ban for the next few months.... again another thing that makes me feel ill. I have already been a week a half without treating myself, which is pretty monumental for me and I am very interested in any spending ban tips you want to share?

Over the next few months if I can stick to plans, you will be seeing a bit more of the back log of my wardrobe. Wish me luck! xo

Unif Space Platforms  - These are old season now but I have only worn them maybe twice? They are super tall with minimal support and they absolutely terrify me. On this particular day, I proved my fear of them was warranted when I managed to take a tumble in them. I can't bare to part with them though because they are so dreamy.

Pastel Striped Dress - Etsy - This dress is one of my all time favorite Etsy purchases. Its a lovely cut, comfy summer fabric and the most beautiful colour palette.  "Pastel Stripe" is one of my regular keyword searches when trawling the vintage section of Etsy.

SOMETHING'S COME ALONG AND IT'S BURST OUR BUBBLE

Cone Knitted Jumper – WND.LND – I have entered a couple of competitions on Instagram but I am pretty selective and it needs to be something that really takes my fancy.  When one of my favourite labels WND.LND (You may remember my post recently about their Ice Cream collection)  offered the opportunity to win a “Cone Knitted Jumper” I couldn't resist!
I actually squealed with excitement when I was picked as the winner of this gorgeous jumper and was elated when it arrived a few days later. The quality is divine, it is soft and toasty warm, it leaves room for layering but still has a flattering cut.  I am often lured into cheap knit wear because of cute prints and colour ways and I accept when making the purchase it will be a one season piece but there really is nothing more luxurious than beautiful knitwear.  A  good quality knit is a great investment piece and if stored and washed properly, really does stand the test of time.

The jumper isn't a colour I would usually be drawn to, my wardrobe is a whirlwind of colour and prints and seriously lacks basics and neutral tones.  The jumper is available in a pretty pastel pink and if I had of been purchasing it, I would have predictably  gone for that option but I was actually pleasantly surprised with how well it seems to work back with such a large variety of pieces in my wardrobe.

Eadie White Chunky Sandals - Lipstick Shoes  (Note to self: need more sandals for showing off cute socks!) Unif Cat Dye Socks - Nasty Gal
Skin Tone Tights - Cheapies from Coles
Vintage Tropical Button Up - I thrifted this from a salvo's on Bridge Road in Hawthorn
Flamingo Necklace - Lovisa

Nagsia PVC Mini Skirt - Missguided
Just a note on this skirt: it did arrive with an almost fishy smell that was pretty unpleasant. I sprayed it down with a bunch of perfume, popped it on the drying rack in front of the fan on full blast and voila! Stinky free :)

Thank you so much to WND.LND and for anyone who hasn't checked out their gorgeous range, jump on their website and prepare to fall in love xo

STYLE CRUSH SIX - Alexandra Metal Clown

Alexandra Merino AKA Alexandra Metal Clown is a 22 year old from Maryland, USA, commanding attention with her eclectic personal style.

One of the most impressive things about this creative babe is that she sews all her marvellous clothes and accessories and has been doing so since the age of 13. A self confessed wig wearing, high heel addict and metal head, her rainbow colour palettes and thoroughly themed looks have made her one of my biggest style crushes.

1.       How would you describe your style?

I would call my style an explosion of matching colors and patterns,i love to match from head to toe!!! a colorful explosion would probably describe it best! ;)

2.       If you had to pick your 5 favourite pieces in your wardrobe, what would they be?

My rainbow fur shrug coat, rainbow hologram platforms, black heelless platform heels, jumbo colorful pom pom headpiece,Jeffrey Campbell rainbow platform sandals! that was very hard to choose! hehe

3.       What are your favourite places to shop?

Ebay- Is my go to place for all my fabrics, sewing supplies and wigs, I also love
Etsy- I love supporting all the artists who put time in their handmade creations, I get lots of cool earrings and headpieces from there!
Romwe- I adore, you can find the coolest most unique pieces there for a really good price

4.       Where do you draw your style inspiration from?

Everything,I’m mainly inspired by daily objects you see everyday and i like turning them into wearable fashion, example(all my food/3d outfits and headpieces)

5.       What is your next fashion must have?

I must have the pastel Unif moto jacket! I have been wanting it for so long!I’ve been making lots of pastel clothes and headpieces, so it's a must for me now! also summer is coming up and I’m dying over those UNIF clear glitter jelly platforms!

6.       Who are your style icons?

Hands down, Anna Dello Russo takes the whole cake- I adore her! she is the one who inspired me to make my own diy cherry headband, she is such a chameleon with her fashion! she always looks so different and incredible thats how aspire to be with my own fashion, constantly changing and wearing different patterns!

Usually the "Style Crush Six" is dedicated to outfit photos but I felt some extra attention need to be paid to Alexandra's amazing DIY head pieces. xx
