OI TO THE WORLD

This outfit wasn't my initial Christmas outfit, I had a dress coming from Ebay but it didn't arrive in time. I was checking my aus post status updates feeling initially hopefully and then bummed I was going to have to pull something together last minute. The positive is that it made me dig out this cherry/gingham skirt I made a few years ago and barely wear, considering the amount of time it took to hand gather the gingham ruffle it really deserves more love.

Hope you are all having a wonderful festive season spending time
with those you love xx

TRICK OR TREAT

Happy Halloween ! Hope you all had a fantastic one filled with lots of candy. My plans for Halloween were to sit at home, eat pizza and watch Edward Scissor hands - action packed . I received a message from a friend on the morning of Halloween  inviting me to a show he was playing and had to frantically try to organise a costume in my lunch break. Thankfully my local thrift store came through with the goods and I found a long, white, satin dress, my plans to cover it in fake blood completely devastated the dear old lady who works there.
The $2.00 store provided me with the flowers, the fake blood and a tiara.
Bit of a frantic, rush job when I got home...
and voila... Carrie! sorry for the crappy photos, they were taken on my mobile phone and I didn't have time to take better ones.

This weeks outfit post continues on the Halloween theme but is a little more pink and cute... xo
Tarantula Knit - Hayley Elsaesser
Pastel Skull Necklace - Diva

Skirt - DIY - I completely forgot to take a close up photo of the bottom edge of this skirt so you wont be able to see but it has an amazing skull lace trim. I adore this fabric and had initial bought it to make a cushion and never got around to it, it was a spur of the moment decision to make it into a skirt. In all honesty I am not 100% happy with the shape of it because I was working with a limited amount of fabric and it is the reason I haven't really got a great deal of wear out of it.

Still (amazingly) going strong with my spending ban, it has actually been a lot easier than I expected!

ONE, TWO PRINCES KNEEL BEFORE YOU

Bit of a casual look and a definite go to outfit during the working week. I did wake up with the plan to just chuck on a band shirt and jeans but it was such a sunny day I felt like a bit of colour was essential.

AS Colour singlet with a bit of DIY pastel pom pom detail. I'll pop the step by step down below for anyone interested.
Pastel Heart Ring that was a little too big for me so put it on a chain - ASOS

Ok two trends I had skimmed right over or maybe am just late to the party:

Disney Princess Tights - Black Milk -  These tights were a gift for my birthday and are the first item of Black Milk that I have owned.  The first time I saw the galaxy leggings, I thought they were super cute but the market was quickly saturated and they lost their appeal.
I guess maybe that is a bit of why I hadn't gone out of my way to buy anything Black Milk. Even though I have seen pieces that are cute, the idea of spending that amount of money on a pair of tights and then seeing knock offs every where. Having said that now that I own a pair and have left the beautiful quality and the luxurious hand feel, I may be having a shift in my opinion.

Chuck Taylor in Optical White - Converse - Considering that I work in the head office for Converse, I really don't know why it has taken me so long to get a pair of these shoes. I am absolutely adoring white sneakers for Spring/Summer  and they seem to go with everything I own. It's a big call but I think these will be one of my favorite purchases of the year.

HOW TO : POM POM SINGLET
Ok super simple tutorial, I had a couple of AS Colour white singlets left over from sampling. I really haven't worn them much so thought I might give them a little cute make over.
I purchased this pastel pom pom trip from Spotlight about 2 years ago, they do still have it in stock if you are interested. I thought it was really sweet but it has remained in my box of trims since purchasing.
Step 1: Measure of your trim to the edge of your singlet. I just measure of one edge and then cut two pieces based on that but oddly one piece was a little bit out. I would recommend measuring your pieces of each sleeve, just to be safe.
Step 2: Pin your trim to the edge (right side) with your pom pom's facing out ( away from the garment). You have two options with this, you could pin it to the wrong side so that just pom pom's show but I actually really like the look of the braiding
Step 3: Stitch on using a zig zag stitch or hand sew if you aren't terribly impatient like me :)
Also helps to have a little sewing helper friend, thanks Ruby Soho...

PEPPERMINT TWIST

Another weekend of glorious sunshine and I think I need to put together a bit of an inspirational board of what I'll be wearing for Spring/Summer. I've really been crushing on a pastel colour palette with the contrast of an athletic aesthetic. It's really hard to get my head around it at the moment as I sit here eating a delicious bowl of pasta listening to the pouring rain and hail outside.... that's Melbourne weather for you!

DIY Heart Mesh Top - I sometimes have people interested in purchasing the items I make. I don't currently pre make anything but If you are interested in having a chat about purchasing anything I've made please email hipbonesandheartbreak@hotmail.com

Mint Crop Top - H&M

Peppermint Textured Skater Skirt - H&M - also for Melbourne babes, they have added a home wares section and everything is super cute and of course well priced! I will be heading back soon to pick up some cat printed towels :)

Converse Sneakers - Authentics
