DIY - CUPCAKE BAG

I came across this super cute DIY Pink Sprinkle Cupcake Shoe tutorial and was inspired to attempt a bag version of it. Hopefully this will be the beginning of more DIY projects ...xo

This is a thrifted vintage bag that I really like the shaped of. It's a fair bit darker than the base of a cupcake but If I was cooking it would probably get burnt... so accurate for me :)

Once you have decided on the bag you want to decorate you will need:
- Sprinkles - When I was buying these they also had heart and dinosaur shape ones which would look amazing but for the first attempt I thought I would go with the standard.
- Acrylic Paint - I am using the same paint that was used in the video which is also the brand I would buy for other projects. If you decide to go with a different brand make sure the consistency of the paint is thick, some of the cheaper brands can be a bit runny.
- Clear Nail Polish
- Masking Tape

These will be pretty similar steps to the video but I will still go through them all.
First step is to tape around the sides of the bag, this will give you a neater finish on the edges. If you are worried about getting paint on the rest of the bag, tape it everywhere you don't want the paint.

Add squiggled lines across the bag that will be like where the frosting drips on a cupcake, don't stress too much about this being neat and perfect. I alternated between using a knife and a spoon to spread my paint (frosting), I found a spoon was needed to get into the smaller spaces. I am not a baker and could honestly count on one hand the amount of times I have iced a cake, if you are a baker you'll probably get a much neater finish!

Leave paint to dry - I left mine for two days as the paint is quite thick.

Paint on your clear nail polish and then put on your sprinkles, this can get a little messy!

I started painting over the sprinkles with clear nail polish as a sealer but I got impatient with how long it was taking and poured it on. Don't do this... it did cause the sprinkles to bleed a little bit. After I had coated all the sprinkles and let it dry I still felt like a lot of sprinkles were falling off and wasn't happy with the finish.

I had a can of this permanent gloss finish sitting around at home and decided that I would give it a try and it seems to have done the trick.

Re-tape the bag and spray over the sprinkled area, I used three coats. This dries pretty quickly but follow the instructions on the can.

And voila! A Cupcake bag that looks good enough to eat. xo

LOOK AT MY CAT, WHY CAN'T I LIVE LIKE THAT?

I posted a photo of this jacket on my instagram a little while ago and then onto my tumblr and a few people asked me for a direct link to it, so here it is...

Pink Faux Fur Coat - ebay - Just a note on this one I am an AU size 8 and more on the smaller end of that and I purchased a size 10 and was very glad I went up a size. The quality of this jacket isn't amazing, the pile is rather thin... but for the price I can't complain

Garfield Nightie worn as top - also from Ebay - I didn't end up purchasing anything from the Lazy Oaf Garfield collection but this little cutie gave me the Garfield injection I needed in my wardrobe.

Lips Hoop Earrings - Ebay
Skirt - Vintage - Another piece from the $2.00 sale at my local thrift store
Palm Tree Socks - Cotton On Body
Marc Jacobs Heels - These are about a half a size to small but I love them and I wear them anyway hehe. :) xo

HELLO KITTY X NCLA

I had to share this for my my fellow Hello Kitty lovers!
Sanrio has collaborated with nail art brand NCLA to create these absolutely adorable nail stickers. This is one of many partnerships designed this year to celebrate Hello Kitty's 40th birthday... proof you can be a lover of all things cute at any age ;)

I have the shakiest hands in the world, so nail art stickers have been a god send for me because painted nail art is out of the question. I can't wait to have one of my favourite Kitty's on my nails.

They will retail for $18.00 and will available from September xo

I WOKE UP LIKE THIS, I WENT TO BED LIKE THIS

I can’t stop thinking about the photo shoot I posted last week via Vice – “If only we lived in a postapocalyptic world run by women.” It has heavily influenced my look this week, trying to toughen up pastels.

I think most people who post outfit photos have a go to pose, it’s almost an unconscious thing that you naturally feel comfortable doing. I get a bit shy and embarrassed taking photos of myself but when I pop my leg out to the side and have my hand on my hip it gets me into photo ready mode.

For this look I have played around with my poses and had an attempt at something a bit tougher (no laughing pls) to keep inline with my inspiration. I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to blogging so it's been fun to step outside of my comfort zone and mix things up a bit. xo

Twisted Gold Hoop Earrings - H&M
Hello Kitty Hair Elastic - Daiso

Pastel Golfer Long Sleeve Top - Thrifted
American Apparel Tennis Skirt  - I really struggle with this skirt, I absolutely adore it but it is just that little bit too short :(

IF ONLY WE LIVED IN A POSTAPOCALYPTIC WORLD RUN BY WOMEN

If this is what a Post-Apocalyptic world is going to look like, bring it on I say!
This most recent shoot featured on Vice has me swooning and wanting to start my very own pastel girl gang.

I love the style of tough women but it is a look that I feel I've never quite been able to master. The women I adored in my early teens like Kat Bjelland and Courtney Love seemed to be able to do that babydoll femme look while still maintaining their punk rock edge.

I have often figured that my pastel wardrobe is often the killer of any chance of looking tough but this photo shoot proves my theory completely wrong...
